Description
Notice the farm fields on the hillside? Notice that they are not terraced? And notice the greenhouses among the fields? On 45 degree hillsides??? I don't know how they can make all that work.
On the lower right is the edge of a (currently empty) pool. The town of Banos is centered around the hot springs feeding the pools and baths. The word "banos" means baths. We wanted to go but when we went there it was very crowded.
Banos is also notable for being under an active volcano. Quite active. Every few months or so there is an alert and everybody is instructed to go to high ground. There were no alerts while we were there. We only had a vague idea of the escape route. If there had been an alert we had planned to follow the locals.
