Polish Resistance Base

Description

This was a bank during WWII. It was a center for resistance to the Nazis. That combined J+P symbol painted on the wall now marks the buildings which housed the Polish Resistance.

It's worth noting that the Nazis were much more intrusive in Poland than other countries they occupied. For instance in France it was largely the French who ran society, with the Germans overseeing their work. Thus you had a collaborative government in France.

In Poland, by contrast, the Poles were given no responsibility. The Nazis ran everything. I don't really know why there was this difference.
